"Fading Away at Wilmore" is a first person narrative of my experiences as a volunteer on the Eisenhower unit, and also as a son walking with his father through the last stages of dementia. The “expert opinions” in the book come via chapters chronicling my in-depth conversations with the Eisenhower unit neurologist, geriatric nurse manager, recreational services manager, chaplain, and a small town church pastor who lost a grandmother from Alzheimer's disease.

My father’s illness caused me to embark on both a creative and spiritual journey. I share how God led me to make this mid-life course correction, and how He then showed me the power of prayer.

I'm convinced God communes with His children, even when they are concealed in dementia's desolating cloak. Dad's last second of life confirmed my belief.
